Much of what’s written about sales, and car sales in particular, is about the deal. About the moment of success when you put the right deal in front of the right customer at the right time. What isn’t written about as often is the persistence needed to get to that deal, customer, and time. Persistence may not be an exciting idea but you have to have it to succeed especially in the competitive community of automotive sales. The truly successful car sales professionals aren’t always the flashiest or gregarious people in the room but they all have one thing in common: Persistence.
Do what the clock does, keep going.
For every customer, there is a sale. Trick is finding the right mix of product features that match each customers individual needs. Sedans, trucks, RVs, or motorcycles all have unique features, and unique customers. The woman looking for a thrilling commute needs different things than the man looking to make camping more civilized. And then, once you find the right vehicle for that customer it is the special mix of features, including the “holes”, that makes the sale for you.
Try taking some time to walk around your lot and try to find the unique features in every vehicle that to some customers might just be a hole, but to others are the perfect match!
